OAC National and International Residency Grant

The OAC National and International Residency program supports artists through periods of research, exploration, regeneration and rejuvenation and provides access to new cultural surroundings outside Ontario for one to three months. Grants cover travel, accommodation, living expenses, and personal insurance. This grant will afford me the opportunity to attend a month-long residency at the Banff Centre.

Tangled Art + Disability

Tangled Art + Disability have invited me to participate in an action research project sponsored by the Ontario Arts Council. The project is intended to engage practicing artists with disabilities and Deaf artists to develop artwork, and to produce descriptions of their practices, artistic processes, and experiences as a means of identifying the challenges, successes, barriers and opportunities they encounter.

YYZ Summer Mentoring and Educational Residency

This summer YYZ is running a month-long directed mentoring and educational residency for emerging visual artists, independent curators, and new Canadians with professional arts training who live beyond the downtownwn core. Through a series of facilitated seminars, studio visits, and critiques, participants have the chance to further their practice, make connections, and develop a body of work for exhibition.

Borders

This is my postcard submission for a cooperative exhibition between Loft and Meet&Go in Strasbourg, France. The theme for the exhibition is "Borders". The end of my residency in Taipei, where this work was made, ended up being a very political and emotional time for both Taiwan and myself. Protests in the capital were close to home - so close in fact that police brutality broke out on 23 March outside our front door, which was located across the street from the Executive Yuan. The series consists of drawings of urban plans or maps of Zhongshan district and then bullets are fired through the 300lb paper.

Für Elise, Revisited

New work from my solo exhibition little tremors has been uploaded to the website.

This work includes "Für Elise, Revisited" which is a duet/ collaboration with the garbage trucks of Taiwan. The garbage trucks in Taipei play one of Beethoven's most familiar pieces to signal to people to bring down their garbage for nightly collection. I haven't played this song since I was 10 years old; during the past few months I've been relearning how to read sheet music and play the piano.

Spring Open Studio

Just an updated image from the Spring Open Studio that happened March 22 & 23 at the Taipei Artist Village.

Moving on is always something I struggle with and in that reflection I wrapped everything I own and everything in my studio in plastic wrap in hopes to perserve the present moment for a time when I can return and resume life as though nothing has changed.

Little Tremors

Solo exhibition titled 'little tremors' opens 15 March and runs until the end of the month.

Included in this exhibit are six new projects that have been conceived and realized during my time in Taiwan.

Address: No.11 & 13. Lane 59, Treasure Hill Artist Village, Taipei. MRT: Gongguan
